Positive Questions Lead to Positive Results

What’s working well in your life?

No matter what the issues and problems are, there are some things that are going well, something that works.

“Where focus goes, energy flows.”  Tony Robbins

Can we look to find what’s going well?  Because when we recognize that, more positive energy will go there and more good findings will reveal themselves.

Approaching problems from the perspective of what’s already working is a field known as Appreciative Inquiry.  This has been used to bring companies and organizations to a higher level and can certainly be used for all of us individuals in working on our ‘issues’ and improving our lives.

We can begin by asking different questions since questions create reality.  Asking positive questions points us to a positive focus.

When were you successful at getting your child to listen to you?  When were you able to handle your stress in a healthy way?  Where did you feel your best self?  When were you able to discuss the problem in a calm manner?  These are all examples of questions framed to prompt us to see and think differently – in a more successful and doable way.   Because we’ve all got that potential  within us.

Bringing forth times when we did well in a particular (problematic) area, even if it was only an exception, can be a great motivator.  It tells us, “Yes, I’ve done it once, I can do it again.”  We can replicate it.

More often than not, we have the solutions within us.  We just need to bring them to the forefront and highlight them.  The best from the past can help us carve out a better present.

What are the areas in your life where things are going well?  Take note of it, appreciate it, do more of it and it will trickle down to other areas.

Promoting growth and change by cultivating the seeds of human potential is a remarkable journey.  I am grateful to be on this path in my life’s work.   Thanks for popping by.
